Baisley Pond Park is a large Queens park in Springfield Gardens, near JFK Airport and close to the New York City–Nassau County border.
The pond, wildlife, courts and picnic alcoves give you several ways to spend time outdoors, whether you’re stopping by for a walk or looking for a place to play. If you’re planning a wider outing around Jamaica, you can also read this guide to Captain Tilly Park.
What to expect at Baisley Pond Park
The pond is the park’s natural focal point, with designated viewing spots on both sides. A NYC Bird Alliance guide identifies one near 119th Avenue at the pond’s northwest corner and another at the end of 122nd Avenue on the southeast side.
These give you two useful points to aim for if you want to take in the water and look for wildlife.
The park is in Springfield Gardens, Queens, not far from JFK Airport. Its setting near the county border gives it a different feel from a small neighborhood pocket park: there’s room for open-air recreation alongside the pond and its surrounding green space.

Walking and outdoor recreation
Use the pond-viewing spots as anchors for a walk, then take time to notice the plant and animal wildlife. NYRR also describes picnic alcoves in the park, so you can pair a stroll with a break outdoors.
The available facts don’t establish a walking-route length or duration, so plan your loop around the areas you want to see rather than counting on a particular mileage.
For active recreation, NYRR lists tennis, handball and basketball courts. A recurring free community run and walk takes place on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.; its listed meeting point is the cricket field at Baisley Pond Boulevard and 154th Street. Check with NYRR before setting out, since activity schedules can change.

Park facilities and seasonal details
NYC Parks lists a barbecue area at Sutphin Boulevard and 125th Avenue. If you plan to use it, review NYC Parks’ barbecue rules first.
The park also has two listed off-leash areas: one between 119th and 123rd avenues, and another on Lakeview Lane between Foch Boulevard and Lakeview Lane East. NYC Parks identifies these locations but does not give hours for the specific off-leash areas.
NYC Parks has listed public restrooms at Baisley Pond Park, but current operating hours and the availability of every facility aren’t established here. Check before relying on a restroom during your visit. The park’s courts and playgrounds add more options for recreation, though current access to individual facilities may vary.
Getting there from Jamaica
For a visit from Jamaica, the Q6 and Q77 are bus options to consider. The Q6 runs between the JFK International Airport cargo area and the 165 St Bus Terminal in Jamaica; selected rush-hour service also runs between Sutphin Boulevard/Rockaway Boulevard, Baisley Park, and Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue/JFK Airport.
The Q77 runs between the Merrick Boulevard/165 St Bus Terminal in Jamaica and Springfield Boulevard/145 Road in Springfield Gardens, and its route landmarks include Baisley Pond Park.
Check the current MTA map and schedule to choose a stop that suits your intended park entrance. If you’re using Jamaica as your starting point from a hotel stay, Airport Plaza Hotel JFK Airport is about 4 minutes on foot from Jamaica station. For more on connections through the area, see this guide to JFK Airport transportation from Jamaica.
Check current rules before visiting
Park facilities, bus schedules and activity details can change. Before you go, check the official site for NYC Parks’ current rules and facility information, and consult the MTA or NYRR for current transit and event details.
